Dear brothers and sisters in Christ,

This weekend we begin our preparatory weekends for the Nativity.  Each of these preparatory Sundays focus the spotlight on the Holy Forefathers or Ancestors of our Lord.  We do this because all Old Testament history, indeed all of salvation history, during those days was focused on and pointed toward the coming Incarnation.  St. John Chrysostom, in his commentary on the Gospel reading of the Great Supper of the Lord, asks "...And when were they bidden?  By all the prophets; by John the Baptist again, for he would pass on all to Christ, saying 'He must increase, I must decrease'".  We will speak of these things of the Old Testament on Sunday.

1.  The coming week:  There will not be a book study on Saturday afternoon, but we will serve Great Vespers at 6:00 pm Saturday evening.  Divine Liturgy on Sunday will begin at 10:00 am, but beforehand, at 9:30 am, we will Chrismate Thaddeus Wilcox, and welcome him into the Orthodox faith.

On Wednesday evening we will serve a moleben for the sick and suffering at 6:00 pm, followed by  inquirers class at 6:30 pm..

2.  Our 2020 calendars have arrived.  I will have them to the church this weekend.

3.  Remember to bring in food and toiletries for the homeless shelter.

I look forward to seeing you all this weekend!

In Christ,

Fr. James
